I've consolidated a list of Osaka's 10 best-rated 3+ star hotels from the hotel reservation site Agoda. The hotels on the list have received a minimum of 50 guest reviews and are ranked by average review score where 10/10 is the maximum.

As an official hotel of the Universal Studios Japan, this hotel is a practical place to stay if you’re planning on visiting USJ during your time in Osaka. The studio is only 5 minutes’ walk away from the hotel, and if you are lucky you get a room with a view of the park front. Rooms are spacious and come with a wide range of amenities and fast WiFi. No need to bring your own pajama; even nightgowns are provided. The breakfast buffet has a good selection of food, but if you prefer to dine out there is a small mall that has plenty of restaurants close to the hotel. From the hotel, you can reach Osaka in only 20 min by train from the Universal-City station, and the station is just 2 minutes’ walk from the hotel.

2. The Bridge Hotel Shinsaibashi

This hotel opened its doors in December 2016, and the new and modern rooms come with a stylish sakura-themed design. Location is great, with lots of eateries and shops in the surrounding area. It is located right next to the subway, and you can reach Dotonbori in about 7-10 mins on foot. The biggest selling point of the hotel is through their exceptional service. They provide a large number of amenity you can think of for free during your stay: umbrellas, massage chairs, free international calls, free mobile Hotspot. If you want to save money on food you can enjoy the hotel’s free breakfast in the morning, free coffee and drinks served throughout the day and free Ramen and alcoholic beverages served in the evening. As the name goes, the hotel is also aiming to be a bridge between Japan and the outside world. They offer different cultural activities every day for staying guests including cosplay, kimono dressing, and takoyaki making. Definitely a good choice for long-staying guests! 3. FP HOTELS South-Namba

FP HOTELS South-Namba is a new and modern hotel that opened in April 2017. The rooms are big and clean, and guests who have stayed at the hotel mention that there are plenty of power outlets and USB hubs inside the rooms. The room even comes with an iPad you can use for free during your stay. The hotel is situated in the Shinsekai area, just a couple minutes walk from both the JR train station and the subway, and with the convenient access to trains, you can easily get around Osaka from there. Inside the hotel there's a cafe area that is open 24/7 so you can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea anytime you'd like. And if all of that isn't enough: the hotel arranges a weekly Monday night event with all-you-can-eat ice cream served from 9-10PM complimentary for staying guests!

Remm Shin-Osaka is situated right on top of the Shin-Osaka Station, so if you are planning to move around by public transport you can enjoy hassle free travel to wherever you might want to visit with both the Shinkansen, JR and subway right below you. New Year's Celebrations: South Queensferry Loony Dook



Okay, here's a New Year’s tradition that is a bit frosty to say the least - how about a Loony Dook dip? 
Perhaps, you’ve heard of the Polar Bear Plunge, well, near Edinburgh you can take a dip at the world Famous Loony Dook, which is part of the Edinburgh’s Hogmanay Festival. This event raises funds for area charities, and what a better way to start off the New Year than by helping others.
On New Year’s day there will be the Dookers’ Parade, which is led by the Beastie Drummers. Then, all  the Loonies will gather for the Dook that will have almost 1000 brave Loonies who will dive into the freezing waters of the Forth Estuary in the shadow of the iconic Forth Bridge. For those on the sidelines, you can cheer these brave souls at various vantage points along the route or down on the beach. Afterwards, stop in for a pint and a bite at one of the pubs, cafes or restaurants in South Queensferry.

1. Hotel Ryumeikan Ochanomizu Honten

The best-rated hotel in Tokyo is also one of the properties that holds the most interesting history. The original building was constructed in 1899, but has gone through a number of hurdles, including being completely burned down to the ground in the Great Kanto Earthquake. The last renovation of the hotel took place in 2014, but the traditional Japanese design has been kept so that guests can enjoy the mix of traditional and modern to its fullest. Staying guests praise the hotel for its spacious, clean and quiet rooms. But be aware; the hotel has a very limited number of rooms, so you might want to book early in advance to secure your room!

The Dormy Inn chain as a whole is well known for offering delicious breakfast buffet and relaxing baths where guests can soak, so you won’t get disappointed here. At Myoujin-no-Yu they have 2 hot spring pools available, and one of them is outdoor so guests can even see the sky from the pool. And last but not least; In the evening beer and ramen are served for free to the hotel guests!
